Deploying the RIT Team is hands on training exercise that will teach firefighters the must have basics for every fire ground on Establishing a RIT team, Positions and Functions of RIT, Softening a Structure, Movement within the structure and Successful Techniques in Packaging and Removing an Active Mayday or Downed/Injured Firefighter. All students should be at minimum, Indiana basic firefighter certified/trained and proficient with SCBA, have the knowledge and comfort of using full PPE and be capable to perform some physical activities for an undetermined length of time, in accordance to their own fire department guidelines and the guidelines of the Dubois County Fire School requirements.
This class is scheduled for 2 days/16 hours, with 4 hours of classroom discussion.
Students will be required to bring approved FULL PPE including SCBA and Spare Bottle
This training touches on NFPA 1407, Standard for Training Fire Service Rapid Intervention Crews guidelines, and will put a realistic view of what your department RIT team will look like and how it can operate.
Also covers some areas of NFPA 1720, NFPA 1001, NFPA 1981, NFPA 1851, NFPA 1971
