Full Description
This course is not a beginner level course, it will be expected that you have knowledge and skills in basic extrication and stabilization.
4 hours of classroom will be provided covering new vehicle technologies and challenges both on vehicle safety features and changes to the different materials used by vehicle manufacturers.
Hands-on portions will require participation (PPE is a MUST). Advanced techniques will be walked through on the afternoon of the first day. We will also be covering under rides and over rides to include advanced stabilization and moving vehicles and working under secured loads. Depending on vehicle availability we will be utilizing semitrailer‘s and other heavier vehicles as well.
The final exercise will include scenario based evolutions where you will work in teams to accomplish your objectives in multiple vehicle pile-ups.

NOTE: The chief of the student must register for the ERS course number with the state (if you are sending 3 students you only need one course number). There will be some skills that will have to be done by the home department. Students will be given a certification letter at the completion of the school stating the skills they have completed. It will be the responsibility of the chief to file their students with the state (this is a state requirement)
This program does not meet the minimum “Standard for Firefighter ProfessionalQualifications” established by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA)1001. This certification program is intended for emergency response support functions only. Departments and personnel wishing to train for interior structural firefighting operations should seek Firefighter 1 certification.

This course will consist of online training combined with all skills mentioned in IC36-8-10.5-7 Minimum Training Requirements for Firefighters totaling 30+ hours of class time. All online training must be completed by the start of the last day of class. Online LMS Training consist of Technical Rescue Awareness,Emergency Response Guidebook, Hazardous Material Awareness, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Dementia Training, SIDs Awareness and Education, and Suicide Prevention Training. Online training is accessed through the individual personsIndiana Public Safety Personnel Portal (Acadis Portal). Driving Safety Skills1-A Preventive Maintenance-Operational Status, 2-A Maintenance & InspectionForm, 3-A Serpentine Exercise, 4-A Alley Dock Exercise, 5-A DiminishingClearance Exercise, 6-A Confined Space Turn-Around Exercise, and 7-A DrivingOperations must be completed at each individual person’s home department and signed off by the candidate’s chief prior to the start of class on the first night. Skills for Orientation (1), Personal Safety (2), Forcible Entry (4,16),Ventilation (16), Apparatus/Water Supply (9,10,14), Ladders (5,6,7,8), SCBA (2,3),Hose Loads (11,12), and Streams (13,15) will be conducted during class hours. All persons seeking certification must demonstrate competency in all skill areas. Persons who achieve certification have met the minimum requirements of IC 36-8-10.5-7 Minimum Training Requirements for Firefighters. A copy of the completed skill sheets will be kept on file at the candidate’s home department. Once all practical skills are completed, the Fire Chief will complete the skills workflow assignment on the Acadis Portal.
Reminder:This certification is for Emergency Response Support; no interior structural firefighting operations should be conducted until Firefighter 1 certification is obtained.The fire chief or authority having jurisdiction (AHJ) is responsible to provide additional proper training in expanded areas if the individual is expected to function safely within an Immediately Dangerous to Life and Health (IDLH)environment. The fire chief acknowledges that he or she shall assume all the risk and liability for deviating from any state and or nationally recognized standards of firefighting.
